Dog & cat vaccination in Casablanca — the Moroccan schedule

Rabies is mandatory in Morocco — but it is not the only threat. Distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus in dogs; cat flu and leukemia in cats: these serious contagious diseases are prevented by a schedule adapted to your companion's age and lifestyle. At the clinic, every injection is recorded and boosters are tracked with you.

The Moroccan schedule: which vaccines, for whom

In Morocco, rabies vaccination is mandatory for dogs — it also protects your family, as rabies remains fatal and transmissible to humans. Dogs additionally receive the so-called « distemper » combination (C HPP): distemper, Rubarth's hepatitis, parvovirus — dreadful in puppies —, parainfluenza and leptospirosis.

For cats, the protocol protects against cat flu (coryza), highly contagious, feline typhus and leukemia, transmitted between cats by simple contact. The exact schedule depends on your animal's age and lifestyle: an indoor cat and a country dog do not face the same risks. We build this schedule with you from the first visit.

Puppies and kittens: the primary vaccination series

Maternal milk antibodies protect the young animal… but also block the first vaccines: that is why primary vaccination takes several injections, generally from 8 weeks of age, a few weeks apart, with the booster around 4 months.

Between the fading of maternal antibodies and full vaccination, puppies and kittens go through a window of fragility. We adapt the protocol to each litter and advise you meanwhile: avoid places heavily used by other dogs before full protection, keep up deworming, watch appetite and stools.

The vaccination record: far more than a document

Every injection is entered in the vaccination record, with the vaccine, date and the vet's signature. This record is required by boarding kennels and dog clubs, requested for travel and essential for some countries — an animal without an up-to-date record can be refused boarding.

Boosters are tracked there visit after visit: it is the common thread of your pet's follow-up, alongside weight, deworming and antiparasitic treatments. A vaccine given at another clinic still counts — simply bring the record to the first visit.

Boosters tracked by the clinic, not by your memory

A forgotten vaccine is protection that fades away. That is why the clinic tracks boosters with you: the next appointment is scheduled at every visit, and the team reminds you when the time comes. If a delay happens, we re-evaluate the protocol — sometimes a single booster is enough, sometimes the series must restart.

And because vaccination happens during a consultation, every injection is an opportunity for a full clinical exam: a vaccinated animal is an examined, weighed and followed animal. The price of the visit and the vaccine is announced before the act, with no surprises.

FAQ

How much does a dog or cat vaccine cost in Casablanca?

The price depends on the vaccine (rabies, distemper, cat flu…) and is added to the consultation fee for the exam. The total is announced before the injection, with no surprises. The primary series spreads the cost over several close visits.

Could my dog fall ill after the vaccine?

Modern vaccines are well tolerated: slight listlessness or sensitivity at the injection site for 24 to 48 hours is possible and benign. Serious reactions are rare — report any muzzle swelling or prolonged listlessness and the team takes over immediately.

How long does a vaccination visit take?

Allow 15 to 20 minutes: full clinical exam before the injection — a vaccine is never given to a feverish animal —, injection, entry in the record and scheduling of the next booster.

Does my pet really need the annual booster?

Yes: protection decreases over time and varies by vaccine. The booster maintains immunity against rabies — a legal obligation in Morocco — and against parvovirus, cat flu or leukemia. The clinic tracks your boosters for you: you have nothing to memorize.
